Shadows Across The Line

Refugees' real-life stories filled with danger, struggle, and excitement...

In Shadows Across the Line: Voices of the Displaced,

Author Senol Tasdelen examines the causes, the history, and the consequences of migration patterns around the globe and relates the personal stories of some of those who risked everything in a desperate attempt to reach safe haven. Some of them succeeded. Some did not.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports in June 2025 that, as end of 2024, there were 123.2 million forcibly displaced people around the globe, including 49 million children.

Among those you’ll learn about in Shadows Across the Line are sixteen-year-old Samir and his ten-year-old sister Lina, who made their way alone through no less than ten countries to escape the war in Syria before reaching safety in the UK. You’ll meet Iancu, who, with his friend Codrin, sought freedom from the repressive regime of Romania’s Nicolae Ceaușescu by hiding among 14,000 sheep aboard a ship bound for Canada, where they have now lived for many years. And Lucia, who fled with her children from the violence in her native Mexico and struggled to make a new life in the U.S., only to be arrested by President Trump’s ICE agents and sent back to Mexico while waiting for her application for asylum to be approved. And you will read the heart-wrenching story of Hava and her two-year-old daughter Eslem who both drowned in the Mediterranean while trying to reach the Greek island of Lesbos in a small, overloaded boat.

I Chose Forward

Autobiography- A true life story with the taste of fiction...

What if your life was not defined by where you began… but by the choices you make?

At six years old, Senol Tasdelen’s life began in an orphanage.

From that moment forward, life presented him with a series of choices—some easy, many difficult. At every turning point, when giving up seemed easier and the wrong path more tempting, he made a decision.

He chose forward.

I Chose Forward: Turning Hardship into Strength is more than a memoir. It is a powerful reminder that no matter where life begins, the direction we take is always within our control.

Through deeply personal and honest storytelling, Senol shares a journey shaped by hardship, resilience, and determination—from loss and uncertainty to building a life defined by purpose.

In this book, you will discover:

- How to turn hardship into strength
- Why the choices you make matter more than your circumstances
- How discipline, responsibility, and mindset shape your future
- A real-life story that proves change is always possible

This book is for anyone who has ever felt:
- Stuck between where they are and where they want to be
- Defined by their past
- Uncertain about their next step

Your past does not define you. Your choices do.
